I love Mother's Day. A day to celebrate the hardest job any of us will ever have! It seemed an appropriate day to open up this blog - I guess I really am moving into the 21st century and new technology!
So I love presents. I love small presents, big presents, home made presents and store bought presents. But my favorite presents are those that are an 'experience.' I just love it when my husband or kids 'arrange' an outing or adventure as a gift. This year they arranged for us to go canoeing! I was so excited. Visions of sitting at the front of the boat with my husband paddling and the sounds of the crickets chirping.....well, it didn't happen!
A freak storm arrived and we sat on the shore fishing! Because we were in a totally unfamiliar neck of the woods (literally) we did visit a cool little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that had the best tilapia I've ever eaten, and we were all together. So it was an adventure - just not the type originally anticipated.
The best part of the day came when the kids pulled me out into the driveway to show me what they'd made for me - a huge drawing that read, "I love you Mom!" I've included a photo so you can see their artwork. After all, it is the 'I love you's' that make this all worthwhile!
Joyfully,
Kim
